After viewing and discussing the images of the United Nations Six Flags of Tolerance, students create a positive-negative design based on a Japanese paper cutting technique called Notan.


Objectives and assessment criteria

Students will:

  1. learn about the Six Flags of Tolerance.
  2. learn about the Japanese cutting technique of Notan.
  3. practice composing a positive/negative design.
  4. understand that tolerance encompasses people, earth, resources and beliefs.
